Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned on Monday amid escalating protests and arrived at the Hindon Air Base near New Delhi aboard a C-130 Hercules military transport aircraft.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh newspaper Prothom Alo reported that Awami League’s Dhaka district office was set on fire by the agitators. The agitators started the fire around 4 pm on Monday.
The agitators also set on fire Awami League president Sheikh Hasina’s office at 3/A Dhanmondi in Dhaka. Protesters were seen chanting slogans and celebrating the news of Sheikh Hasina’s resignation.
The protests in Bangladesh, primarily led by students, initially called for abolishing a quota system for government jobs but escalated into a broader uprising against Prime Minister Hasina and her ruling Awami League party. On Sunday, clashes in Dhaka resulted in at least 95 deaths, including 14 police officers, and left hundreds more injured, according to local media outlet Prothom Alo.
